Hey Friend,
I want to encourage you to run to God concerning ALL things in your life. Yes, ALL things including sin. The Bible tells us that we all fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Therefore, none of us should walk around feeling shame or condemnation (Romans 8:1). If you are feeling shame about something you’ve done in the past or maybe even recently, I am writing this to encourage you to run to God instead of from him. Hiding from God when it comes to sin or even feeling shamed is nothing new to God. This sense of shame and wanting to hide from him started with Adam and Eve in Genesis 3. After Adam and Eve disobeyed God they felt shame, tried to cover up, and even hid from him when he entered the garden.
Genesis 3:7-10 (NLT)
At that moment their eyes were opened, and they suddenly felt shame at their nakedness. So they sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves. When the cool evening breezes were blowing, the man[a] and his wife heard the Lord God walking about in the garden. So, they hid from the Lord God among the trees. Then the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” He replied, “I heard you walking in the garden, so I hid. I was afraid because I was naked.”
Like Adam and Eve many of us try to cover up the different emotions and feelings sin brings into our life instead of dealing with them. Attempting to cover these things will not change the knowing of our sin. When sin is telling you to “hide” from God, remember that his Grace and Mercy is telling you to run to him! Let us run to our father with the things in our heart and mind. Friend, walk in the freedom God has for you. It was paid with a price, specifically Jesus’ life. You are a daughter of God that was created in his image. He knew you before he formed you and put you in your mother’s womb. Don’t be afraid to run to your father. His arms are open wide ready to receive you.
Many Blessings,
