Hey Friend,
Last week we talked about finding purpose in difficult circumstances and today we are going to talk about overcoming a difficult circumstance. In 2020 I was forced into a circumstance that I did not want to be in. I was hurting, lost, confused and very discouraged. I was facing a circumstance that appeared to be hopeless. I did not want to be in the situation I was in and for a while I walked around letting my circumstance overcome me. Now that I look back I realize that my circumstance had overcome me and stripped me of my Joy because I did not know how to get out of it. But, that’s the catch! My difficult circumstance was NOT for me to “get out of” but it was for me to “walk” through and find purpose in it. We will each go through a difficult circumstance at some point throughout our life and you can be sure that God wants us to overcome it and find purpose in it because he works all things out. So, let’s get into what I did to overcome:
The 1st thing I had to do was Acknowledge where I was.
This step is the first step to overcoming because if we are in denial our heart is NOT open for God to really move in our situation.
The 2nd thing I had to do was Accept where I was
There is a difference between acknowledging where you are and accepting where you are. This step is so important because acknowledgement is not enough for change. It is only when we accept something as the truth that allows the door of change/healing/breakthrough to be opened for us.
Once I accepted where I was I had to ALLOW GOD INTO WHERE I WAS!
This step is kind of like surgery. It is telling God everything that is going on concerning you and your circumstance and then letting him come in and do whatever work he wants to do. Though God is the surgeon in our life we most definitely have post-op responsibilities to reach a proper recovery. I say that because overcoming difficulty is about partnering with God and not us expecting God to magically do all the work.
Lastly, I had to TRUST GOD & LEAN ON HIM ALONE.
This step is very important because if you do NOT truly trust God you will find yourself going in circles of doubt, unbelief and fear. If you do NOT truly lean on God ALONE, you will find yourself looking to other things and people to keep you strong. Sadly, there are many christians that walk away from the faith because things get too difficult or uncertainty about life overcomes them. I want you to know that as Christians we don’t have to have the answers to every difficult circumstance we walk through. Instead, we can choose to trust in the God we serve & stand on the fact that his character is CERTAIN even when the World is full of uncertainty.
From the bottom of my heart, I really hope that this blog helped you in some way!
Many Blessings,
